My name is Isabel and I'm a twenty year old Junior at Connecticut College majoring in Gender and Women's Studies and Latin American studies. Essentially, I am majoring in myself. I was born in Boston, MA but my father is from Little Rock, Arkansas and my mother is from Santiago, Chile. Being biracial, I have always felt like I've had to straddle two cultures while creating my own identity based on my experiences. In August 2012, I traveled to Valparaíso, Chile where I lived until December. During this time, I learned more about my family history, fine-tuning my spanish speaking, reading, and writing skills. I am a storyteller by nature and am currently in the process of creating a graphic novel of my abuelita's experiences during the military coup in Chile and her struggle with depression. I love people and sharing moments and stories with others and feel like technology is another means of making connections and sharing.
